FAQ

Desktop and mobile apps FAQ

Which versions of macOS and Windows are supported?
The desktop app runs on macOS 11 Big Sur and later (Apple Silicon and Intel) and on Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit. We ship signed installers and notarised builds, so SmartScreen and Gatekeeper won't get in your way.
What is the virtual drive and when should I use it?
The virtual drive (Windows) keeps your files in the cloud while making them appear in your local synced folder. Files are downloaded only when you open them, perfect for laptops with limited SSD space or for teams sharing huge libraries.
Can I keep working without an internet connection?
Yes. Pin any file or folder for offline access and the desktop app keeps a local copy. Changes are queued and synced automatically the moment you come back online, no merge conflicts, full version history preserved.
How do I roll out the apps to my whole team?
We provide MSI and PKG installers for centralised deployment through Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro, SCCM or Group Policy. Pair it with SSO (Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace) and SCIM provisioning to onboard users automatically.
Is the desktop app safe for sensitive files?
All traffic uses TLS 1.3 and files are encrypted at rest in our EU datacentres. For extra protection, our Cryptomator integration provides zero-knowledge vaults, not even vBoxx engineers can read the contents.
Do you also offer an Outlook add-in?
Yes. The Outlook add-in turns any attachment into a secure vBoxxCloud share link, past Outlook's 25 MB limit, with optional password and expiry, and full audit trail.
